Happy Monday! In this week’s issue of Spark Bites by Spark Growth, we’ve got a lot of updates coming from social networking site Facebook. So without further ado, let’s dive into this week’s batch of social media news!
Facebook:
Facebook’s ‘fake news’ will soon be replaced with just…less news. The social network will be testing a paid subscription for users to access certain news stories.
Something cool for businesses: Facebook is rolling out a feature called Groups for Pages. Basically, if you have a brand page, you can now create fan clubs and groups centered around your ‘super-fans.’ This will allow for a more intimate discussion between a brand and their most enthusiastic followers!
Be careful when you’re browsing your Facebook timeline at work! Not that we ever do that, of course. Autoplay videos on Facebook will no longer be muted by default, so everyone in the room will be able to hear what videos are playing as you scroll through your feed. This is also big news for social media marketing, because this change will also apply to video ads!
Amazon:
Yeah, you read that right. Amazon.com Inc is making it to the front pages of social media news this week with a new social feature called Spark (hmm, there’s something familiar about that name, but we just can’t put our finger on it). The platform falls somewhere between Pinterest and Instagram. Spark is available for Amazon Prime members and encourages its users to share photos and videos that other users can then react to.
Google:
Google is introducing a new search feed that’s looking a little like the Facebook News Feed. This tailored feed of news, entertainment, and web content is based on the user’s previous searches, YouTube video views, and other personal information.
Snapchat:
Snapchat is rolling out some new features tomorrow, including Multi-Snap capability and a “Tint Brush.” Multi-Snap enables you to record up to six 10-second Snaps consecutively, meaning you can finally record up to a full minute of your gorgeous dog filter selfies!
That wraps up this week’s dose of social media news and updates! Have a marvelous Monday and we’ll see you back here at the same time next week.
