Repost Feature on Instagram

Looking for more content from users you don’t follow on Instagram? Instagram is adding another feature to assist with this. A “Re-Post” feature is being officially tested on the app. Users will be able to repost to their feed or Story and a new tab on the profile will be added to organize these posts. Instagram stated that this feature is being tested with a small number of people. Stay tuned for more details in the future!

End-to-End Encryption Test

Users are starting to see some information on Instagram about end-to-end encrypted messages and calls. Meta has been working on full messaging integration across Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp, and is now starting to test the feature. Some users in India received an option to switch to encryption as the test continues.

Instagram Media Kit

Next, Instagram is working on a media kit for creators. Influencers can add text, posts, profiles, and insights to the kit. This can make it easier to show potential brands an influencer’s audience and content by way of an in-app portfolio. How many of you find this useful?

TikTok Launches Its Own “BeReal” Feature

tiktok bereal feature

TikTok has become the first platform to officially launch a BeReal copy feature, called TikTok Now! After a random daily prompt, users have three minutes to post a photo or 10-second video. Users can choose who sees the “Now” posts, whether it’s friends, everyone, or everyone in your area. The feature has been launched for U.S. users and can be found in replacement of the discover feed tab. The platform has also suggested the possibility of TikTok Now being a standalone app.

New Effects to Celebrate Fashion Month on TikTok

Just in time for Fashion Month, TikTok is launching fashion-inspired effects from different brands. With the hashtag #FashionForYou, TikTok is highlighting designers, brands, and influencers until October 14th. Check out the full set of events and features for Fashion Month here!

The new redesigned Spaces tab is getting podcasts. As reported last month, Twitter is adding podcasts to its platform through the Spaces tab but for its initial test, Twitter Blue subscribers are getting early access. Besides podcasts, the new Spaces tab also features themed audio stations and live Spaces.

Facebook

Community Chats on Messenger

Last but not least, Facebook is working on Community Chats, a Discord-like chat room for Messenger users. Large groups can now organize chats based on categories, start audio and video discussions, and create admin-only messages. This is intended for users with similar interests that may be strangers, rather than those on your list of friends. The feature is currently being tested within certain Groups on the app.
